The word “Extraordinary” is the perfect description of this stalwart of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. Sergeant Christopher Ward has narrowed our search for a police officer who has the midas touch which enables him to protect, serve and inspire while enjoying much love and appreciation from citizens in his division.

Our team spent a full day at the Highgate St. Mary Police Division which he is the head of and we were amazed by the overwhelming show of respect, admiration and appreciation shown to “Ward” as he is most often referred to.

The Hallmark of our visit to the police division came when while walking through the main street of Highgate St. Mary with Sergeant Christopher Ward one of our crew members uttered “A first me ever see a policeman get suh much ratings”. I was quite keen to have a sit-down interview with this extraordinary gentleman to pick his brain to uncover the underline reasons for both his success and popularity.

Sergeant Ward was very open about his humble beginnings in Woodside St. Mary and even made mention of the fact that he had a tumultuous start to academia at the secondary level. He outlined how he started his career as a youth volunteer at the Highgate Police Division and later became a district Constable, a position he served in for four years. However, his ambition and strong support system within his community pressed him to enroll in the Police Academy and fast forward to present he is now the head of the very same station he started out as a volunteer!

Sergeant Christopher Ward is now tertiary-level educated is the toast of Highgate St Mary and a youth leader who has earned his stripes through hard work, honesty, and determination. He has served the Jamaica Constabulary Force for 17 years and counting. He is truly an “Extraordinary Jamaican”
