Reggae rhythms played exclusively on vinyl LPs will again reign supreme at the second installment of Vibes Is Right, dubbed The Roots Reggae Edition. Wickie Wackie Beach in Bull Bay, St. Andrew will be every music lover’s paradise on Saturday, December 10 from as early as sunset.

Producers of the event Kareece Lawrence, Janine “Jah9” Cunningham, Lesley-Ann Welsh and Natalie Reid are all actively engaged with the emerging live music landscape, and consider the Vibes Is Right series as part of their efforts to foster a vibrant, lucrative and diverse Jamaican Music Industry. When asked what patrons can expect, Lawrence promises “every element will be right on point; from the ambiance to the music, the energy of the space, the sights and sounds. It’s all organic and thus ‘alive’; the music selections will be so great that attendees will be dancing the night away. We absolutely love what we do and want to share the experience with everyone, from the youths to elders.”

The first staging of the event this summer was sensational, featuring sounds from the Rockers era played by Lee’s Unlimited, bonfire on the beach, a breathtaking full moon and a sophisticated but authentic flair that indeed exuded the right vibe. The next staging features Roots Reggae which includes dub and ‘first time’ dancehall. Sounds from the legendary King Tubby’s, the infamous Sleng Teng ‘riddim’, Sister Nancy, Major Worries, Marcia Griffiths, Cutty Ranks, Half Pint, Garnet Silk and Sugar Minott, to name a few, will be featured. Patrons can look forward to a special guest dj segment with Yaadcore who hails from the parish of Mandeville; and a guest performance by melodica player Addis Pablo, son of Augustus Pablo – dub producer, keyboardist and melodica player of international renown.

Vibes is Right: The Roots Reggae Edition promises, once again, to deliver sensational sounds set against a backdrop of sand, sea and the full moon for only $700 presold. Commenting on the choice of venue, Reid states, “Wickie Wackie is just 7 minutes from Harbour View, closer than Port Royal. The location is right on the sea and has an amazing energy. When we add our special touch, the space comes alive.”

Pre-sold tickets are available at both locations of Veggie Meals on Wheels (Bob Marley Museum & Cross Roads), Bookophilia (92 Hope Road) and by calling 354-8812 or 868-9422.
