Kingston, Jamiaca:-Tristar Entertainment has launched accounts on social networking websites Facebook and Twitter, as they gear up for the media launch and the first event in the All-Island Carnival Series.

“We couldn’t possibly be looking to do an event in Jamaica without engaging persons via the social media platform,” said Julius Morgan a director of Tristar Entertainment.

“These websites, Facebook and Twitter, have massive populations and a great deal of their members fall right in our target market. So, we’re going for it. YouTube, Facebook, Twitter… everywhere,” Morgan explained.

While not giving too much details of the campaign about to kick into high gear, Morgan said that users of the social networking websites can expect to be “tastefully engulfed All-Island Carnival’s limitless energy.”

His comments were echoed by Marvin Lawrence, another director of Tristar Entertainment.

“One key question we have to answer is how do we reach the audience? With there being so many mediums by which patrons get pummelled with information, we have to look at ways that we not only reach our target market, but that they also retain the information we impart,” said Lawrence.

The event now boasts rapidly growing Facebook and Twitter accounts, with a YouTube Channel soon to follow. With this trifecta of social media, the organisers will involve soca fans and patrons with various activities and giveaways.

“A great thing about the age of social media is the fact that we can really hear what people are saying. So we’re going to be doing some polls about which artistes our socaphiles want to see at our fetes and especially on our final night and which disc jockeys the people want to hear from. It leaves us with room also to have innovative interaction with regards to giveaways and possible online competitions,” Lawrence remarked.

The All-Island Carnival is set to be the largest soca event in the region, with 10 fetes in 12 weeks across Jamaica. Starting on January 29 in Kingston at the UDC Field in New Kingston, All-Island Carnival will visit places such as St Mary, Portland, Negril, St Thomas, Montego Bay and more. Pre-sale tickets for the first event will be available soon, with the promoters promising an “attractive” admission cost.
