D'AngelDancehall artiste D’Angel has poured out her emotions in her latest single called Break Free.

The artiste, who recently broke free from a rocky five-year relationship with fellow dancehall artiste Beenie Man, says that the song is not a diss to the self-proclaimed Dancehall King, but is rather an expression of how she feels at this stage in her life.

According to D’Angel, music is a way of expression, and the song can be used as an inspiration for other females who have been through similar circumstances.

“When you put your real life on a record and say real things, people feel it more,” she said.

The artiste says that she is going to pay more attention to herself and her personal growth.

“It’s all about living a life for you, and not living for people and to please people,” she said.

D’Angel also says that being in the spotlight, people tend to lose their sense of purpose because they are caught up in the hype, but there is a point where change is inevitable.

According to D’Angel, she was not looking for a lyrical battle with her estranged husband, and that the song was more about tranquility rather than anything else.

“I’m a leader not a follower and if a person should take it personal, I would answer, but as I said the song isn’t about that, so there is no room for counteraction and the fans can be the judge,” she said.

The song is produced by Good Good Records, and is set to be released in a matter of days. On another note, the artiste says she is currently pleased with the way in which her musical career is going, and is looking forward to the future.

“Right now, it’s just straight work and reinventing myself, I’m evolving and just in a creative place right now,” she said.

D’Angel is currently nominated for two awards in the upcoming MIA Music Awards in September. She is nominated in the categories of Best Dressed Female Artiste and Singjay of the Year.
