It will be a bittersweet moment for dancehall artiste Chino when he leaves the island tomorrow for three months, but he knows it’s all a part of the job.

Chino, whose correct name is Daniel McGregor, will tour parts of Europe, Africa and the USA over the next three months and will be accompanied by other members of the Big Ship camp: his father, reggae icon Freddie McGregor, and fellow artiste Laden on the ‘Summer Splash Tour’.

The artiste, whois known for songs like Protected, From Mawning, Ruff It Up, among others, has toured extensively since he came to the fore a few years ago.

He has toured places like the USA, Holland, France, parts of Africa and England. However, it will be his first time in Exeter (England), Wales (Swansea), Bilboa (Spain), Gloucester (England), Vienna (Austria) and Ghana (Africa), and he’s excited about sharing his music with both old and new fans.

great experience

“It’s always a great experience performing for my fans. Music is something that I’ve always wanted to pursue, even earlier from my days at Wolmer’s. I know over the next few months, constantly being on the road, will be a lot of work, but I’m ready for it! It’s all about Big Ship invading these places and giving the fans the chance to see us do great performances in person, instead of only hearing us on the radio or seeing us on television. So we jus’ gonna tek them by storm an ruff it up,” said Chino.

The artiste, who is also one of the faces of the new Coca Cola (Coke) Zero drink, returns to the island in the second week of September.
