For the most part, the sky was sunny and it was a perfect day to frolic in the waves with family. despite the skies turning grey, the atmosphere did not change. Football games continued to be played, the beach lovers carried on, and the amusement park rides and haunted house persisted through the weather, to the delight of the wet but happy patrons.

The family fun day served up, popcorn, hot dogs, pan chicken and cotton candy to families, while the night delivered excitement from numerous headline performances, abundant Claro giveaways, and a variety of contests for the patrons.

Those who were lucky enough to win the competitions, walked away with new phones courtesy of Claro. The most memorable competition was the Claro Make Over, which involved an entire redressing on stage in Claro gear “at 3G speed”, as one patron put it. Individuals who were not as lucky to win a phone, were able to visit the mobile Claro store which was opened all day, until 9 p.m.

The family fun day ended with dance competitions for the children, all of whom walked away with a prize for participation, and marked the beginning of the awaited stage show.

Performances came from Apache Chief and Sarge, with their hilarious comedy act, while the hosts ‘Vibemaster’ Jerry D and Reggae Roger, built the vibe and warmed the stage for acts from across the island.

Wonder Fox, a noted fire dancer from Montego Bay, amazed the audience with his balancing abilities, and Mr Cool Cat, a 69-year-old performer wowed patrons with his one-man bicycle show.

“This was such a fun event. Everyone had a great time despite the inclement weather” Andrew Balbour, events and promotions manager for Claro expressed. “Claro is very family-driven, and we were more than happy to be a part of an event that the entire family could enjoy to celebrate this time of year.”

Claro Pepsi Teen Splash certainly had performances for everyone. After the acrobatics, the vocalists had free reign, with acts like X-hale, the harmonised trio from Kingston, and Chris Damontague from Junction, St Elizabeth.

The sound clash between Extreme Sound and Atlantic One had the crowd raving. Now, with the audience primed and ready, the featured acts took to the stage. Backed by the Ruff Kutt Crew, Sophia lent her sultry vocals to the audience, while Baby Tash got the crowd excited with her high-energy performance.

The show ended with a bang with the hot D’Angel, and crowd favourites Khago and I-Octane. The ‘Clarorific’ ambassador, Mr G, excited the crowd and led the sing- a-long of the catchiest jingle for this year’s holiday promotions. ‘The Doctor’ Beenie Man concluded the show in style, making the event a night to remember.
