“The promotion is doing well. The support from the media, corporate Jamaica and entertainers has been picking up since being in the country,” said the New Jersey-based television and radio personality.

“Now that I’m here, I am stepping up the promotion. I am just doing my part and hopefully that will encourage others to step up and do something.”

On Wednesday (November 17), Collins will launch the project, which is being done in aid of the youth in Allman Town, at Village Blues Bar in Barbican.

Tag Drive

“We are having it for the kids in Allman Town. It’s basically to motivate them and show them that not because they live in the inner-city it doesn’t mean they can’t get out of that,” she said.

There will also be a tag drive in Half-Way Tree between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on November 19. This will be followed by a concert at Mandela Park. It will feature artistes like Bridgez, G-Whizz, Shane-O, Ishawna, Kari Jess, Macka Diamond, Denygue, Iyador and others. There will also be appearances by dancers like Mad Michelle and Latisha.

On November 20, there will be fun day at the Elletson Road Police Station. This will include career, leadership and health talks, counselling, games and safety instructions. These activities will be delivered by trained professionals from various organisations, service clubs, medical professionals, tertiary students and representatives from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Jamaica Fire Brigade, Jamaica Defence Force and corporate Jamaica.

Collins says she has been getting corporate support from companies like Kirk distributors, Coca Cola, Tru-Juice, Best Dressed, Soft Sheen Carson, Island Grill, Village Blues Bar, The Gleaner, True Tone, Nestlé Fitness Cereal and Nestlé Ice-cream.
