“Children should be allowed to enjoy life in an environment where they can feel safe, protected and free . they should have that ability to be carefree,” says controversial deejay Merciless, whose recent single, Amber Alert has been enjoying a tremendous amount of merit play.

Recently returned to the local music scene (although Merciless says he hadn’t gone anywhere), the deejay has immersed himself in the production of hard-hitting singles, one of which has already landed him in a brouhaha with deejays Bounty Killer and Cobra.

“Merciless wasn’t trying to get into any quarrel with either of those deejays,” his longtime manager Gadaffi tries to clarify. “Him was just hailing up Cobra and telling him that he’s back . that’s all.”

However, a very calm and authoritative Leonard Bartley, aka Merciless, refuses to go down that road of explanation again.
Instead, he says with a smile, “Nuff respect to Cobra, Bounty Killer and the whole entertainment fraternity. Right now I am dealing with music and I intend to keep my focus,” he stated.

One of the burning issues for the deejay is child molestation and he has poured out his concern and frustration in the single Amber Alert. “I am a father and it hurts to watch the news . not just in Jamaica . and hear about the little children being taken advantage of. They are sexually molested, kidnapped and God knows what else,” Bartley mourned.

An Amber Alert is a child abduction alert bulletin in the United States and Canada issued upon the suspected abduction of a child. AMBER is officially an acronym for ‘America’s Missing: Broadcasting Emergency Response’ but was originally named for Amber Hagerman, a nine-year-old child who was abducted and murdered in Arlington, Texas in 1996.

Merciless says he hopes to work with the authorities locally to establish a similar system.
