Deejay Blak Ryno of the Portmore Empire is denying rumours that he was involved in an alleged shoot-out with another artiste on Wednesday night.

The incident reportedly took place at a studio in St Andrew.

It is alleged that Ryno, whose real name is Romain Anderson, was at the studio when he encountered the other entertainer in the parking lot.

The artistes exchanged no words but immediately got into a tussle, during which a shot was fired. However, when the STAR spoke to Blak Ryno, he denied being on the scene when the incident took place.

“Mi reach pon di scene an mi hear a bag of running. Mi hear a shot and mi stay out of it. Mi just reach at di wrong time,” he said.

Any tension

Ryno, however, was one of 10 men who were deatined by the Half-Way Tree police for questioning. According to Ryno, he was not able to tell the police about anything that took place as he did not have much of a statement to give.

When asked if there is any tension between himself and the other entertainer, Ryno said, “Not that I know of.”

Efforts to contact the other entertainer who was allegedly involved was unsuccessful as his cellphone rang without an answer.

On Wednesday night following the incident, THE STAR saw Ryno around town at popular entertainment events such as Weddy Weddy and The Quad nightclub. According to Ryno he is all about music and is not concerned with anything of a criminal nature.

Currently, Ryno has a number of recently released singles such as Bawl Out for Chimney Records and Sen Yuh Go Know Jah and upcoming projects such as Tell It To Dem on Stephen McGregor’s ‘Eternal Darkness’ rhythm.

Meanwhile, police from the Half-Way Tree Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) said none of the persons taken in for questioning provided any useful information regarding the incident.

An officer who is part of the investigation said the persons were all tight-lipped about the alleged incident. They were all released after being questioned and swabbed for gunshot residue.

The lawman, however, said that the police would continue to probe the incident.
