Busta Rhymes appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court today for his sentencing on charges of assault, driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. According to New York Newsday, the rapper was sentenced to 10 hours of community service, three years probation and was ordered to pay a $1250 fine plus court costs. Facing four separate trials and the likelihood that he would serve jail time, Busta reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and in January plead guilty to two charges of misdemeanor assault. The fine covers the two driving infractions and the rapper will also be required to enroll in a drunk driving program. “If you mess up, you’re going to jail,” Judge Larry Stephen told the rapper. If he violates the terms of his plea, he could end up serving a year in prison. “I thank the judge for giving me a chance and I thank everybody for being supportive,” Busta told reporters as he left the courthouse.
