Christina Aguilera arrested, released; boyfriend held on DUI suspicion

Pop singer Christina Aguilera was arrested and later released from jail today for suspicion of public intoxication.

Along with Aguilera her boyfriend Matthew Rutler, was arrested on suspicion of DUI early Tuesday in West Hollywood, authorities said.

According to police, an extrememly intoxicated Aguilera was taken into custody “for her own safety” around 2:45 a.m.

She was released after 7:30 a.m. when she sobered up.

A sheriff’s spokesman told L.A. Now that charges will not be filed against the singer.

Rutler’s bail is set at $30,000.
