Foota Hype arrested

Police last night confirmed that Cassava Piece based selector Foota Hype was arrested and charged with assault yesterday following an incident in the community.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the selector drove to a section of the community in a vehicle with a man who was allegedly armed with a gun. The man with the gun is said to have used it to intimidate a member of the community while Foota exited the car and assaulted the individual.

The police say a report was made to them and the selector was arrested and charged with assault. The police are currently seeking the other armed man said to have been in the car.

One source with whom this newspaper spoke said that the assault incident allegedly stemmed from a treat that singjay Mavado had held in the community over the weekend. The source said that Foota, who had been at odds with the singer for sometime now, was not pleased that some members of the community had attended his rival’s event. Those persons, the source said, was visited and scolded by Foota for attending the event.

Foota Hype was featured in the news yesterday after rumours were flying around that he may have been behind a shooting incident on Tuesday morning where Mavado’s Range Rover truck got shot up. No one was injured in that incident.

The selector however denied the rumours saying that he would never hurt Mavado or contract anyone to do so, as was being rumoured.
