The single is also number one on Billboard’s recently launched Digital Genre charts, reggae chart. Gyptian has reach on Billboard’s reggae charts, peaking at number 13 and number four, respectively, for the songs My Name Is Gyptian and I Can Feel Your Pain.

According to a ‘Singles Review’ written on www.billboard.biz, “Not since Wayne Wonder’s No Letting Go, which hit No. 14 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in 2003, has an underground reggae artiste garnered as much attention in the United States as Jamaica’s own Gyptian.”

The song, which is two years old, is produced by Ricky Blaze and has been gaining attention at various overseas stations including airplay on Hot 97 in New York. A music video for the song was shot a few weeks ago in Jamaica by Rick Elgood, director of the popular film Dancehall Queen.

According to a release sent to THE STAR, while the artiste hasn’t been visible locally, Gyptian has been busy abroad performing at events like I Am Legend III held in Trinidad and Tobago.

third album

This coming weekend he will be doing three shows in the Bahamian islands of Nassau, Freeport and Exuma. Gyptian is also currently working on what will be his third album for VP Records, which is tentatively titled Hold Yuh and is expected to be released later this summer. It will feature production work from producers such as Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor, Ricky Blaze and FX. Gyptian will also be handling some of the production duties for the album.

The singer first burst on the music scene five years ago and is known for songs such as Serious Times, Mama Don’t Cry and Beautiful Lady.
