Righteous Teacher, born Demarco Grant on September 19, 1975 in New Providence, Bahamas, is a reggae recording artist whose music is rooted in faith, inspiration and positive social messages. Raised in the heart of Nassau near East Street and Deveaux Street, Grant attended C.W. Sawyer Primary School and later A.F. Adderley Senior High School, where his passion for music first emerged.

As a student, Grant became known for beating rhythms on classroom desks and freestyling with friends, often drawing large crowds in school hallways. Inspired by legendary Jamaican dancehall icons such as Buju Banton, Papa San and Shabba Ranks, he developed a love for music at an early age. However, during that period, pursuing music professionally in The Bahamas seemed uncertain, leading him down a different path.

Growing up amidst hardship and adversity, Grant became involved in gang activity while attempting to establish his identity and reputation on the streets. Despite these challenges, his grandmother, Ruby Lightfoot, remained a guiding influence, instilling in him the values of hard work, perseverance and determination. Her teachings, coupled with divine purpose, eventually helped redirect his life toward a more positive future.

Grant later became a Bahamian Immigration Officer, building a respectable career in public service. In 2009, he relocated to Florida, where he lived for more than a decade. While residing in the United States, he was heavily exposed to the American hip-hop and rap culture, creating opportunities to connect with producers and artists throughout the industry.

In March 2020, inspired to revisit his lifelong passion, Grant began recording music professionally. His debut single ‘Favor Bounce’ was released on July 5, 2020, followed by ‘Favor Bounce Da Revolution’ on November 13, 2020. The record achieved notable success, reaching number 35 on the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream Indicator Chart, number 37 on the Mainstream Indicator Media Base Chart and number 34 on the U.S. Retail Radio Chart, which tracks music played in major retail chains including Walmart, Target and Best Buy. These accomplishments affirmed his belief that mainstream success was possible and marked a turning point in his musical journey. The momentum led to a partnership with his first manager, “Charvae Di Don” of Concore Entertainment, who played an instrumental role in helping elevate his career and expand his industry reach.

Throughout his career, Grant has collaborated with several notable artists and producers. He has worked with Atlanta-based producer Mike Fidelis, known for producing records for artists such as DaBaby and Lil Boosie. In April 2024, he released ‘Thank God For My Haters’ featuring renowned rapper Benzino. Other collaborations include ‘Trapped In The Mind’ featuring Miami rapper Mike Smiff of Slip-N-Slide Records, ‘Power Moves’ with independent Miami rapper Stitches, and projects involving PBE Pluto. These collaborations provided opportunities to perform at numerous events across Florida and Georgia, helping him build a growing audience throughout the United States.

Although he found success in hip-hop, Grant realized his true passion remained with reggae music. Upon returning to The Bahamas, he shifted his focus toward creating reggae, dancehall and afrobeat records that align more closely with his identity and artistic vision.

Recording primarily through Rock Sound Records based in The Bahamas, Grant released ‘Bust A Praise’ under his own imprint, DKG Music Group, on March 13, 2026. He has also developed a strong working relationship with Jamaican producer Crawba Genius, who produced his hit single ‘Give Thanks’ featuring internationally acclaimed dancehall artist Busy Signal. The song achieved significant success, peaking at number 3 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Chart, further establishing Grant as an emerging force within Caribbean music.

Looking ahead, Grant aspires to collaborate with world-renowned Jamaican producers such as Rvssian, Di Genius and Notnice. While remaining proudly independent, he remains open to partnering with a major record label if the opportunity proves mutually beneficial.

Performing under the name “Righteous Teacher”, Grant intentionally adopted the moniker to reflect his mission of addressing the struggles, challenges and realities of life through a positive and God-centered perspective. His music seeks to uplift, motivate, inspire and educate listeners while encouraging personal growth, faith and resilience.

Today, Righteous Teacher continues building his fan base both locally and internationally, striving for global success while remaining committed to creating timeless music that impacts lives for generations. Through every song, he aims to spread positive energy, inspire change and remind people that no matter their circumstances, faith and purpose can transform any journey into one of redemption and hope.
