Singjay Mr Vegas will be one of the headliners at urban radio station HOT97’s On Da Reggae Tip’ show on Friday, September 4 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, New York.

The singjay’s hit song, I Am Blessed, on the Liv Up Records imprint has been burning the airwaves in the United States over the summer alongside other big songs on the same riddim from fellow entertainers Vybz Kartel, Mavado and Serani.

“I am going to make a statement at the show. My single I Am Blessed is in heavy rotation on HOT 97 and other urban stations along the East Coast so my fans are looking forward to the performance, and I am going to give them a high-energy set,” Mr Vegas, who just completed a highly successful European tour, promised.

The show will be hosted by Bobby Konders & Jabba, and is widely regarded as the biggest dancehall show in New York City during the Labour Day weekend. Other acts on the lineup include Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Mavado, and Serani.

Mr Vegas has always enjoyed incredible appeal with the Hispanic demographic, and has appeared on several Reggaeton mix tapes in that community, especially after his Pull Up song inspired Pitbull to score a major US chart hit with Culo, which has a similar melody.

The singjay has consistently scored hits in the US marketplace ever since jumping into the spotlight with Nike Air. Heads High had a successful chart run in the UK and a #69 peak on the Billboard R&B chart. The year 2000 saw the single Hot Gal Today, featuring Sean Paul, becoming a minor hit on the US R&B charts, peaking at #66. In 2001, he issued Damn Right, featuring guest appearances from Shaggy and Big Yard; this album went to #2 on the US Reggae chart. The year 2004 saw the release of the Pull Up LP, and the title track scraped the bottom of the Billboard Top 200, peaking at #98 (as well as #68 on the R&B chart).

Two months ago, Mr Vegas made a much-talked-about cameo at the DJ Prostyles’ party in Orlando where his I Am Blessed song was one of the high points of a night full of excellent performances from rappers and dancehall superstars.
