Of lately one may be hearing and seeing the name ‘Young Veterans’ in various sources of dancehall/reggae media; Sheldon, Sekou, Maverick, & Opal make up this group that has been putting in non stop hours of hard-work into Jamaica’s music industry. Having produced songs such as ‘Young Black & Powerful’ by Konshens which served as the theme song for the Jamaican Olympians at the Berlin Games, Young Veterans’ productions are sure to be in rotation on local & overseas, airwaves.

Their latest project comes from a combination of their talent as well as that of their own upcoming artiste called Opal. Listeners may know her as the raunchy female character that did the ‘Hot Wuk’ collaboration with Mr. Vegas in 2007 and from the song ‘I Said It’ which did well in the Caribbean and the Tri-State area. Her new single ‘Balance’, comes shortly after the release of ‘Jah Protect’ riddim by Young Veterans which is available on iTunes and features artistes such as Chris Martin, Maverick, Konshens, Perfect, Patexx & Shawn Storm, to name a few. The upbeat & salacious single is said to be a ‘girls anthem’ & is nothing short such a title. Having a seductive tone throughout its verses, Opal shows her versatility as she switches it up in the throwback related chorus.

The single ‘Balance’ is from Young Veterans’ impending compilation album ‘Rahtid 2 Rahtid’ (rahtid 2) which is set to be digitally released soon. The album can be said to be an equal mixture of reggae & dancehall, resulting in new age reggae; current music that is pleasurable to everyone. With all the progress & development coming out of the Young Veterans’ camp listeners are sure to be pleased in 2011.
