KINGSTON, JAMAICA — After three successful programs, the Bars To Go Training Institute and Red Stripe have renewed their partnership to engineer the fourth installment of their Diageo Learning For Life initiative.

The upcoming training program, which commences in mid-June, will train 350 persons who are interested in entering the Bartending and Tourism sectors. Those trained, will have the option of registering for Project Tourism, which will include training in: Hospitality 101 and Food and Beverage or Project Bartender – under which they can opt to study Bartending or Bar Supervision.

Patrice McHugh, CEO of the Bars To Go Group of Companies said, “We are encouraging everyone who not only needs a skill, but wants to work in the tourism or bartending industries to come out and register for the course. It is free of cost, and so many persons have already benefited from the program and have moved on to accessing wonderful opportunities that wouldn’t have come their way if they were not trained.”

The Bartending and Tourism programs under Diageo’s Learning For Life are nine weeks long and not only will the successful applicants receive training that will make them certified to work in the Caricom region, but they will also receive a stipend to make travelling to classes for the duration of the nine weeks, effortless.

“The program is available to persons in Kingston and St. Andrew, Mandeville, Ocho Rios, Trelawny, Negril, Portland and Montego Bay. All persons have to do is call our office for more information or visit us to fill out the application forms. There are only 350 spots available, so we want persons to act quickly – come in and register, so if you fit the criteria we can call you in for an interview to be a part of the program,” said McHugh.

The Bar Supervision course however, will only be available to applicants in Portland, Montego Bay and Kingston and St. Andrew and will need to have a minimum of four (4) CXC passes.

The Bars To Go Training Institute has already trained 500 students under Diageo’s Learning For Life initiative: some of whom have gone on to work on cruise ships and in hotels across the region, and even as far as Canada. The recruitment drive ends on June 10.

Persons wishing to learn more about the program can call the Bars To Go Group of Companies at 906-2275-7 or visit their offices to sign up at 5 Central Road, Suite 2, Kingston 10.
