Kingston, Jamaica — Dancehall artistes Spice and Chino are heading to the top of Toronto, Canada’s Dancehall/Reggae charts.

Spice’s Slim Vs. Fluffy featuring Pamputtae is riding high in the number two spot on Toronto’s Radio Dubplate Top Ten Reggae Dancehall and Singles Chart on CHRY 105.5 FM, while Chino’s Secret Lovers single featuring songstress, Alaine holds the number seven (7) spot, also on the same chart. The two singles which dominated the Jamaican airwaves for months are still enjoying heavy rotation locally. In fact, Spice and Pamputtae’s Slim Vs. Fluffy still holds firm on a number of charts including Jamaica’s Hype TV ‘VTX Countdown’ in the number nine (9) position.

The Award-winning artiste, Chino, whose correct name is Daniel McGregor and is known for hits including, Protected, From Mawnin’, Pon Yuh Head, Ruff It Up, We Nuh Like Dem alongside brother and top-producer, Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor, says though Secret Lovers and a number of his other singles continue to receive heavy rotation both locally and internationally, slowing down to enjoy the rewards isn’t an option.

“Right now I have two new singles out. There is Gallis Fi Real on the Cosa Nostra Riddim produced by Ward 21 and there is Party Hard on the Money Tree Riddim by Liveup Records. Both of them were recently released and already both singles and the other songs on the riddim have been doing extremely well. So between recording new singles, finishing up the recording and mixing for the upcoming albums and shows, I’m usually pretty busy. Ah jus’ work we say and remaining focused,” he said.

Spice, who was voted 2009-2010’s ‘Female Artiste of the Year’, spoke similarly. “Right now I have somewhere between eight to ten new singles which are ready to be released. The topics I hit on are really diverse, so there’s something for eveyone coming up. Apart from that I have something major in the works. I can’t elaborate too much on it, because there’s still a lot of paperwork being handled, but it involves television, that much I can say. It’s going to be something that will show more of ‘Grace Hamilton’ versus ‘Spice’ the artiste. It’s going to be a great venture and something I really hope fans will enjoy,” said Spice.
