Dancehall superstar Vershon makes remarkable strides in his career as he continues to break through barriers with his latest single “Zip It Up”. Not only has the song been performing well around the world and receiving airplay on various radio stations but also the official music video, which was released on May 10, 2024, has been racking up huge views on YouTube and has now debuted on the US iTunes Reggae Music Video Chart at number 1 and number 10 overall in the United States among the likes of Childish Gambino and Miley Cyrus.
It didn’t stop there! “Zip It Up” kept moving upwards, closing out the day at number 5 overall surpassing Taylor Swift and Megan Thee Stallion. This accomplishment is no easy feat but it seems like nothing to the established artist who has endured so much throughout his career. Vershon could attribute his recent success to the support system he has around him, especially in Jenelle Alexia of A’Legends who is running point on the promotion of “Zip It Up” alongside her PR Lesley Hayles and their marketing team at Ejor Media Group.
“Zip It Up”, released on April 19, is a co-production between Cashflow Recordz and Vershon’s Real Queffa Records. It was distributed by 21st Hapilos Distribution and was instantly a hit due its dedication to the late great dancing icon Gerald Levy, renowned as Bogle and Mr Wacky. Several dance crews from all corners of the globe were reminiscent of Bogle’s legacy after hearing “Zip It Up” and began creating their own choreographed videos to memorialize the legend in his honor. The official music video is vibrant and masterful and features some of Jamaica’s finest dancers including Mr Wacky’s protégé Boysie, as well as Colo Colo, Marvin Di Beast, Energy and Pata Skeng.
Vershon is currently in Florida gearing up for an interview on popular radio station 99Jamz with Bad Boy Rue from Waggy Tee Movement this Friday, May 17th. He’ll also be performing at an event during the Memorial Day weekend celebrations at the end of the month.
